Once supply is safe, we can check the wiring on your side. If Ausgrid is your network, its Level 2 page says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and the network. Do I get a compliance certificate for electrical work in Canterbury?
Yes. NSW requires electricians to provide Building Commission NSW with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. The person who tests the work submits it, no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.
Handwritten and PDF forms are no longer accepted. The customer gets a copy by email when their email address is added to the certificate.
Council can come into it if the building is heritage listed. The Canterbury-Bankstown Local Environmental Plan 2023 lists heritage items and conservation areas. Changes to a heritage listed place normally need development consent.
