Licensed electricians for Glebe homes, day or night
A power point that sparks or a safety switch that won’t hold needs a licensed electrician in Glebe. Our electrician Glebe team takes calls at any hour, for flats, terraces and businesses.
We price every job before work starts, and the figure is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit before we begin.
What electrical faults turn up in Glebe flats and terraces?
The 2021 Census counted 2,405 flats or apartments and 2,469 semi-detached, row or terrace homes in Glebe. Each home has a switchboard, the panel where power splits into circuits and the breakers and safety switches sit.
A safety switch is a device that cuts the power within a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault tracing for trips finds the faulty circuit instead of just resetting it.
Some boards still carry ceramic fuses. Others have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. Either one needs a closer look before a new circuit goes on. A switchboard repair is quoted as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs a look
- A safety switch that trips again within minutes
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts
- A panel that feels warm or smells of burning
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be
A smoke alarm that chirps, a socket that feels warm or a light that buzzes is worth checking early. We quote the repair before we start.
Electrician Glebe: lighting, appliances and EV chargers
An induction cooktop or a reverse cycle air conditioner runs on its own circuit. An older board needs a check before it can take one. We fit new ovens and cooktops from the board to the appliance.
Old halogen downlights run hot and draw more power than LEDs. Swapping to LED lighting cuts the load on the circuit. A ceiling fan installation needs a secure fixing and a circuit that can run it.
A new appliance in an older flat can overload a circuit that was never built for it. Tell us what you plan to fit, and we’ll quote the work before we start.
Car chargers need their own circuit too. See our EV charger installation work, and our smoke alarm fitting for homes in Glebe.
Emergency electrician Glebe: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset deserves a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts. Here’s how our emergency electrical callouts run.
- Check whether your neighbours have power.
- Look at your board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
- Treat any fallen wire as live and keep away.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its electrical emergencies page gives a simple rule for fallen wires. Stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, away. Then call Ausgrid on 13 13 88, which it lists as a 24 hour number.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its page says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain the overhead or underground service lines between a customer installation and Ausgrid’s electricity network. We hold that accreditation (number 5559). Read about our Level 2 electrician work.

Will I get a certificate after electrical work in Glebe?
Yes. NSW says electricians are required to give Building Commission NSW a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, to show the work has been tested and complies with the regulation and standards. The person who tests the work submits it, no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.
The customer gets a copy by email when the electrician adds their email address in the portal. Keep it with your house or strata records.

Electrician Glebe: who to call about a power fault?
| What you see | Who to call | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| Only your home has lost power | Us | Look for a tripped safety switch or main switch. |
| A burnt smell comes from the board | Us, straight away | Switch off what you can and keep clear. |
| A wire is down outside | Ausgrid on 13 13 88, if Ausgrid supplies your home | Stay at least 8 metres away. |
| A fault in a shared part of an apartment building | Your strata manager or committee | Tenants tell their landlord. |
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its safety page says all work from the first point of connection on the property is the customer’s electrical installation. It also says residents and businesses are responsible for maintaining safety clearances and connection points for the service mains that extend onto the property. We can check the wiring on your side of the meter.
A tenant who finds a fault should tell the landlord first. An owner can book us directly. We quote the price before any work starts.
Our electricians in the Inner City cover the rest of the region too.
