Will I get paperwork for electrical work in Smithfield?
Yes. NSW says the person who tests the electrical work must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it has to go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, because paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted.
The customer is emailed a copy when their email address is added in the portal. Keep it with the house records.

Renters outnumbered owners of either kind in 2021: 1,735 homes were rented, against 1,103 owned outright and 1,064 with a mortgage. For a rented home, NSW says the landlord must repair or replace a smoke alarm within two business days of finding out it isn’t working.
