Do I get a certificate for electrical work in Holroyd?
By law in NSW, electrical wiring work must be done by, or under the supervision of, a licensed electrician. That covers new circuits, switchboard work and hard-wired fittings. A power point that has gone dead isn’t a job for a screwdriver and a guess.
Yes, for work that needs one. NSW says the person who tests the work submits a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. The deadline is seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it must go through the BCNSW eCert portal.
The customer gets a copy by email when the electrician adds their email address in the portal. Keep it with your records, and pass it to your strata manager or landlord if the work was for them.
