Do I get a certificate for electrical work in Leichhardt?
NSW requires a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. The person who tests the work submits it to Building Commission NSW, no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it goes through the eCert portal, and paper or PDF forms are no longer accepted.
The customer is emailed a copy when their email address is added in the portal. Keep it with your house records.
Council has its own rules for heritage sites. Inner West Council says some works on a heritage item or in a heritage conservation area can be exempt, but works that alter external or internal built elements need consent. It advises contacting its Duty Planning Service before any works.
