Electrician Leura
Heritage homes, guesthouses and gardens, handled by licensed local electricians.
Local electricians for Leura homes, day or night
An electrician in Leura works in homes that are often a century old, guesthouses that must stay open and gardens that are lit for visitors. Our licensed electricians cover Leura at any hour, and you agree the price before we start.
Leura is known for the village along Leura Mall, its gardens and its guesthouses, and the electrical work follows that mix. Heritage cottages need careful rewiring, rentals need reliable power and alarms, and gardens need outdoor lighting that is safe in wet weather.
What electrical work do Leura homes and guesthouses need?
Older Leura houses have usually been altered in stages, so one room may have modern wiring while another still has cable from decades ago. We map what is in the walls before we add to it, and we show you where old cable runs.
If the wiring needs replacing, we quote to do it room by room, starting with the circuits that carry the heaviest load. We also look at replacing a worn switchboard at the same time, because a modern board with safety switches protects every new circuit.
Guesthouses and rentals have their own pattern. Every room has a heater, a kettle and a hair dryer, and all of them can run at once on a cold morning. We check that the circuits and the board can carry the load, and we label the board clearly so the next person can find what they need.
Can you light a Leura garden safely?
Yes. Gardens are a feature of Leura, and outdoor lighting has to cope with rain, frost and damp soil. We use fittings rated for outdoor use and put the supply on a safety switch, so a wet fitting trips the switch instead of becoming a hazard.
Path and feature lighting and power for an outdoor area all need the cable run and protected correctly. We plan the circuit for the distance, so lights at the far end of the garden get a proper supply and not a weak one.
Because the supply for garden lighting often runs a long way from the board, we also look at where the cable runs, so a lawn edge or a garden bed does not turn into a hazard later.
Do you work around trading hours on Leura Mall?
Yes. Shops, cafes and galleries cannot afford a long outage, so we schedule lighting, power and fault repairs for early mornings, evenings or between bookings wherever we can. The aim is that your doors stay open.
We price commercial jobs in writing before we begin, and for a landlord or business owner who needs a clear record, we give you a written summary of what we found and what we did. That applies to every kind of electrical work for businesses we take on.
Shops and galleries often want lighting that shows their goods well. We can upgrade lighting, add display circuits and tidy cabling behind counters while we are there.
Emergency electrician in Leura, day or night
No power, sparking or a burning smell is worth a call straight away on 1300 164 206. A licensed electrician answers 24 hours a day, and nights, weekends and public holidays carry no overtime charge. See how an emergency callout works.
If a line is down in the street or a tree is across a pole, stay at least 8 metres away and call your electricity network operator. Once supply is back, we check everything on your side of the meter.
In a storm, a tree on a line can cut power to a whole street. Report it to the network operator first, then call us if the damage is on your side of the meter or if appliances have been affected.

Do I get a compliance certificate for electrical work in Leura?
Yes, for any work that needs one. In New South Wales the electrician who tests the work lodges a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work within seven days, and since July 2026 these go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, which sends you a copy. Keep it with your house records, because buyers and insurers may ask for it.
Ordinary electrical work does not need council approval. Some Leura homes are heritage listed or in a conservation area, though, and Blue Mountains City Council can apply controls to external work such as moving a meter box. We raise that before we quote.
Smoke alarms and safety checks for Leura rentals
Every home in New South Wales needs a working smoke alarm on each level, and guests in a rental depend on them. We fit hardwired smoke alarms that are interconnected, so one alarm sounding wakes the whole house.
A check between bookings can cover safety switches, outdoor power points and any old cable. You get the findings in writing, and we tell you honestly what can wait. The electricians in Katoomba cover the next town along.
Rentals and holiday lets also benefit from a safety check before the busy season, such as the weeks around the Leura Gardens Festival.
