Licensed plumbers for Umina Beach homes, day or night
A toilet that won’t drain or a pipe that’s leaking through a wall needs a licensed plumber in Umina Beach. Our team takes calls at any hour, every day of the year.
We price each job before we start, and the price is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so we quote your visit first.
What plumbing problems do Umina Beach homes get?
The 2021 Census counted 5,211 separate houses among Umina Beach’s 6,791 occupied homes. Here are four jobs that come up in homes like these.
Blocked sewer lines
Council names tree roots, wet wipes, fats and oils as common causes of sewer blockages. A camera check shows whether clearing the blocked drain will hold or the pipe needs repair.
Leaks behind the wall
A water bill that jumps with no change in use points to a hidden leak. We use non-invasive leak detection before we open anything up.
Hot water that fades
A unit that runs cold halfway through a shower needs a fix or a swap. We handle repairs to hot water systems and say when a new unit makes more sense.
Taps and toilets that run on
A dripping tap or a cistern that keeps refilling wastes water and lifts the bill. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the usual cause.
Who looks after which pipes in Umina Beach?
If your home is on Council’s water and sewer, Central Coast Council is responsible for the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes and inspection points leading to your point of connection. As the owner, you look after all pipes and fittings on your property from that point. That includes garden taps, the hot water service and water tanks.
Council’s maintenance and repairs guide sets out the split. It says Council doesn’t cover the cost of a licensed plumber you hire yourself, even if the problem turns out to be Council’s responsibility.
If your home is on Council’s sewer and it blocks, Council’s fact sheet says to check the inspection shaft in your yard and lift the lid to see if it’s overflowing. It asks you to contact Council first on 02 4306 7900, and says Council will advise if a plumber is required. Council’s guide says a problem in your own sewerage pipes needs a licensed plumber at your own cost.
Emergency plumber Umina Beach: any hour, day or night
A burst pipe on a Saturday night can’t wait. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. Rates differ in the evenings and on weekends, and you get the price before we start. See how our emergency plumbing callouts work.
If your home is on Council’s water and sewer, its water service page says to call 02 4306 7900 for urgent issues such as major leaks or sewer spills. Council’s guides say a leaking water meter or meter tap, or a flooded boundary shaft, may be Council’s responsibility.
- Turn the water off at the main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pipes.
- Keep people and pets away from any sewage, then call us.
Gas fitting and hot water for Umina Beach households
Replacing a cooktop, moving a gas heater or adding a bayonet point is licensed gasfitting work. Our gas fitting service covers new connections, appliance swaps and pressure testing.
A storage hot water unit keeps a tank of heated water ready. An instantaneous unit heats water as it flows through. Both come in gas and electric versions. For homes on Council’s water, its guide lists the hot water service as the owner’s to maintain and repair.
If you smell gas, get everyone outside and don’t touch switches or appliances. Call us from outside, at any hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Umina Beach?
Council says on-site plumbing work in the Central Coast region needs an inspection by Central Coast Council. For that work, the plumber must give Council a Notice of Work at least two days before starting. Council’s plumbing and drainage page lists the steps.
A Certificate of Compliance confirms the work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. Council says the plumber submits it within two days of finishing, with a copy to Council and the owner.
Plumber Umina Beach: homes, pipes and Council
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Umina Beach among the localities partly or wholly in Central Coast Council’s area. Council’s plumbing page says it inspects on-site plumbing work in the Central Coast region.
Umina Beach homes in the 2021 Census
Source: ABS Census QuickStats. The ABS makes small random changes to figures for privacy.
Most occupied homes are separate houses. About a third are rented, and a rented home still has an owner. Council’s guides put the pipes and fittings on the property in the owner’s hands, from the point of connection. The ABS also counted 926 semi-detached, row or terrace homes and 506 flats or apartments.
Plumber Umina Beach: who deals with what if Council supplies you?
| Part of the system | Who looks after it | First step |
|---|---|---|
| Water meter, meter tap and the pipes leading to your point of connection | Central Coast Council | Keep 50 cm clear each side of the meter and 120 cm above it. |
| Pipes, taps and tanks on your property | The owner | Book a licensed plumber. |
| Sewer pipes and fittings inside your property, up to and including the point of connection | The owner | Check the inspection shaft, then phone Council first. |
| Sewerage pipes leading up to the point of connection | Central Coast Council | Report a manhole overflow or a blocked sewer main on 02 4306 7900. |
Stormwater has its own drainage, separate from the sewer. Council says illegal stormwater connections can overload the sewer in heavy rain. The overflow can land on your property or a neighbour’s.
We also take jobs in Woy Woy, Erina, Terrigal and Springfield. See the other suburbs our Central Coast plumbers cover.
