Licensed plumbing for Erina homes, any hour
A blocked sewer, a leaking tap or a hot water unit that has quit needs a licensed plumber in Erina. Our plumber Erina team takes calls at any hour, every day of the week.
Each job gets a price before work starts, and that price is fixed once you approve it. Quotes are free. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, and we quote the price first.
What plumbing problems do Erina homes run into?
The 2021 Census counted 2,147 occupied homes in Erina. Of those, 1,618 are separate houses and 433 are semi-detached, row or terrace houses or townhouses. Four jobs come up in homes like these.
Blocked sewer and drains
Council’s guide lists tree roots, oils and fats, wipes and stormwater among the most common causes of sewer blockages. A camera shows whether clearing the blockage will hold or the pipe needs repair.
Leaks you can’t see
Council says reading your meter regularly helps you spot leaks early. If the reading climbs with every tap off, hidden leak detection traces the leak before anything is opened up.
Hot water that gives out
A unit that goes cold halfway through a shower needs a repair or a replacement, and a licensed plumber can sort out which. See our hot water system repairs.
Taps and toilets that won’t stop
A dripping tap or a cistern that keeps refilling wastes water. It lifts the bill too. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the usual culprit.
To test for a leak, switch off every tap and appliance and watch the meter dial for a few minutes. If it still moves, water is escaping somewhere on the property. Council says meters are usually in line with your front boundary.
Who owns which pipes in Erina?
If your home is on Council’s water and sewer, Council’s guide says it’s responsible for the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes leading to your point of connection. The owner looks after the pipes and fittings on the property from that point. Sewer pipes split at the point of connection too. The owner looks after them up to and including it, which takes in the boundary shaft, the overflow gully and the inspection opening.
Council’s guide names four cases where a sewer fault could be Council’s responsibility. The problem is visible outside your boundary, neighbours have it too, your boundary shaft is flooded, or flooding is widespread in your area. Council asks you to contact it immediately if any apply. Its maintenance guide shows the diagram.
Emergency plumber Erina: any hour, day or night
A pipe that bursts at midnight or a toilet that overflows on a Sunday can’t wait. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. Our after-hours plumbing team works every hour of every day. Evening and weekend rates differ, and you get the price before we start.
Find your meter before you need it. Council’s guide says the owner has to protect the meter tap and meter from damage or theft. If sewage is overflowing from a manhole or a council sewer main, report it to council on 02 4306 7900.
- Turn the water off at the meter tap or the main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Open the lowest tap to drain the pipes and ease the pressure.
- Lift valuables off the floor, then call us.
Gas fitting and hot water for Erina households
Moving a gas heater, fitting a new cooktop or adding a bayonet point is licensed gasfitting work. Our gas fitting service covers new connections, appliance swaps and pressure testing.
A storage hot water unit keeps a tank of heated water on standby. An instantaneous unit heats water only as it flows through. Both come in gas and electric versions.
If you’re building on bush fire prone land, the NSW Rural Fire Service says above-ground water and gas pipes need to be made of metal. The RFS recommends checking with your local council if you’re not sure your block is on that land.
If you smell gas, get everyone outside and don’t touch switches or appliances. Call us from outside, whatever the hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Erina?
Central Coast Council says on-site plumbing work in the Central Coast region needs an inspection by council. At least two days before work starts, the plumber must give council a Notice of Work. NSW describes it as a form outlining the job and who’s doing it. It lists emergency work and minor works, such as replacing tap ware, as cases where one isn’t needed.
A Certificate of Compliance confirms the finished work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. Council says the plumber must submit it within two days of finishing, and a copy must go to council and the owner. Ask for yours.
Plumbing in Erina’s houses and townhouses
The NSW Electoral Commission places Erina in the Central Coast Council area. Council’s own site lists the suburb under two of its wards, Gosford East and Gosford West.

Council’s guide puts the pipes on the property from the point of connection with the property owner, and that includes a rented home. If your townhouse is in a strata scheme, NSW says the owners corporation looks after common property and owners repair anything in their own property. Check where your pipe connects before you call about a fault.
Plumber Erina: a blocked sewer, whose job is it?
| What you see | Who looks after it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Sewage overflowing from a manhole or council sewer main | Central Coast Council | Report it on 02 4306 7900. |
| A flooded boundary shaft, or neighbours with the same fault | Council’s guide says it may be Council’s responsibility | Contact council straight away. |
| A blocked pipe inside your property, up to the point of connection | The owner | Book a licensed plumber. |
| A blocked overflow gully or inspection opening | The owner | Keep the gully clear, then call us. |
Council also says every property must have a gully trap, and nothing should sit on it. Flushed wipes and cooking fat are on council’s list of blockage causes, so a bin beats the toilet.
We also look after Terrigal, Springfield, Woy Woy and Wyong. To check your suburb, see where our Central Coast plumbers work.
