Licensed electricians for Erina homes, day or night
A dead power point or a safety switch that keeps tripping needs a licensed electrician in Erina. Our electrician Erina team takes calls at any hour, every day of the week.
We price every job before work starts, and the figure is fixed once you approve it. Quotes are free. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit before we begin.
What electrical faults turn up in Erina homes?
Erina has 2,147 occupied homes. The 2021 Census counted 1,618 separate houses among them. Another 433 are semi-detached or townhouses, and 92 are flats. Each home has a switchboard.
A switchboard is the panel where incoming power splits into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault tracing for trips finds the circuit behind it instead of just resetting it.
Some boards still carry ceramic fuses. Others have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. Either needs a close look before a new circuit goes on. A switchboard upgrade is quoted as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs attention
- A safety switch that trips again within minutes of a reset
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts
- A warm panel, a crackle or a burnt smell at the board
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be
Heaters, lights and appliances in Erina homes
An induction cooktop, a wall oven or a reverse cycle air conditioner runs on a circuit of its own. An older board may need work before it can take one. We handle oven and cooktop fitting from the board to the appliance.
Old halogen downlights run hot and draw more power than LEDs. Swapping them for LED light fittings cuts the load on the circuit. Outdoor lights and power points need weatherproof fittings and a safety switch on their circuit.
We also install smoke alarms and EV chargers. An EV charger or a new air conditioner adds a heavy load, so the board has to carry it first.
Emergency electrician Erina: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset deserves a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and agree the price with you before any work starts. See how our urgent electrical callouts run.
- Look outside. If the neighbours’ lights are off too, report the outage.
- If only your home is dark, check the board for a tripped safety switch.
- Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
- Treat any fallen wire as live and keep well back.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, report fallen or arcing powerlines on 13 13 88, open 24 hours. It asks for leaning or fallen poles and exposed underground cables too. Stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, from fallen wires. In a life-threatening situation, call 000 first.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its page says a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider can install, repair or maintain overhead or underground service lines. These are the lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold Level 2 accreditation (number 5559).

Do I get a compliance certificate for electrical work in Erina?
NSW says electricians must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work whenever electrical work is undertaken. The person who tests the work submits it, no later than seven days after the test. Since 1 July 2026 it goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal. Handwritten and PDF forms are no longer accepted.
The customer is emailed a copy when the electrician adds their email address in the portal. Keep it with your house records.

Erina homes in the 2021 Census
Source: ABS Census QuickStats. The ABS makes small random changes to figures for privacy.
The Census also counted 978 homes owned outright and 432 owned with a mortgage. Those figures are a 2021 snapshot, not today’s count. If your home is in a strata scheme, NSW says the owners corporation looks after common property and owners repair anything in their own property.
Electrician Erina: whose problem is the fault?
| What you see | Who to call | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| The whole street is dark | Ausgrid on 13 13 88, if it supplies your home | Check your neighbours’ lights, then report it. |
| A powerline is down or a pole is leaning | Ausgrid on 13 13 88, or 000 if life is at risk | Stay at least 8 metres away. |
| A fault on a private pole or its pole-top fittings | The property owner, if Ausgrid supplies your home | Book a licensed electrician. |
| Only your home has lost power | Us | Look for a tripped safety switch or main switch. |
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says owners look after private poles, powerlines and pole-top fittings beyond its connection point. Owners also keep private overhead powerlines free of vegetation. Ausgrid calls trimming near its powerlines highly dangerous, and says accredited workers must do it.
Other suburbs we cover include Terrigal, Springfield, Kincumber and Woy Woy. To check your suburb, see where our Central Coast electricians work.
