Electrician Terrigal
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, lighting and smoke alarms, done by licensed local electricians who answer day or night.
A licensed electrician for Terrigal homes and units
A safety switch that keeps tripping, or a unit with no power, needs a licensed electrician in Terrigal. We take calls at any hour.
We agree the price before any work starts, and it’s fixed once you approve it. Quotes are free. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we give you the price for your visit first.
What electrical faults turn up in Terrigal homes?
A switchboard is the panel that splits the incoming power into circuits. It holds the breakers and the safety switches. A safety switch is a device that cuts the power in a split second when current leaks to earth.
When a safety switch keeps tripping, a reset only hides the cause. Our fault tracing service finds the circuit behind the trip.
Ceramic fuses, or no safety switch on the lighting and power circuits, mean the board needs a check before you add an oven or heat pump. We quote board upgrade work as a fixed price.
Signs your board needs attention
- A safety switch that trips again soon after you reset it
- Lights that dim when the oven or kettle starts
- Power points or a switch that feel warm to touch
- A buzzing sound or a burnt smell at the board
Electrician Terrigal: lights, appliances and smoke alarms
An induction cooktop or a wall oven needs a circuit of its own. In an older home, the board has to cope with the extra load first. We handle cooktop and oven installation from the board to the benchtop.
Old halogen downlights run hot and draw more power than LEDs. A move to LED light fittings lowers the load on the circuit. A new ceiling fan needs a solid fixing and a circuit that can run it.
In a rental, NSW says the landlord must make sure smoke alarms are working. A faulty one must be repaired or replaced within two business days of the landlord finding out. The landlord must use a licensed electrician for a hard-wired alarm. We fit and replace hard-wired smoke alarms.
Emergency electrician Terrigal: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset deserves a call straight away on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and agree the price with you before work starts. Here’s how our after-hours electrician callouts run.
If the power goes out:
- Look at the street. If neighbouring homes are dark too, the fault is likely outside your property.
- If only your place is dark, check the board for a tripped safety switch.
- Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
- Treat any wire on the ground as live and keep well away.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, report fallen or arcing powerlines, dangerous leaning or fallen poles and exposed underground cables to it on 13 13 88. Ausgrid lists that number as 24 hours. It says to stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from fallen wires or powerlines. In a life-threatening situation, call 000 first.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its page says an Authorised and Accredited Service Provider Level 2 (ASP/2) can install, repair or maintain the overhead or underground service lines between a customer installation and Ausgrid’s electricity network. Our Level 2 accredited service provider number is 5559.

Do I get a certificate after electrical work in Terrigal?
Yes. The person who tests the electrical work must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work to Building Commission NSW as soon as practical, and no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it must go through the BCNSW eCert portal, and handwritten and PDF forms are no longer accepted.
When the electrician adds your email address in the portal, the system automatically sends you a copy.
