A licensed plumber for Springfield homes, day or night
A drain that gurgles, a tap that won’t stop dripping or a hot water unit gone cold needs a licensed plumber in Springfield. Our plumber Springfield team takes calls at any hour.
We price every job before work starts, and the price is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so we quote your visit first.
What plumbing problems do Springfield homes have?
The 2021 Census counted 1,470 separate houses among Springfield’s 1,519 occupied homes. Four jobs are worth knowing about.
Slow and blocked drains
Tree roots and wipes both cause blockages, and Central Coast Council lists them among the common causes. A camera shows whether clearing a blocked drain will hold or the pipe needs repair.
Hidden leaks
A water meter that keeps ticking with every tap off points to a leak on the property. Leak detection for hidden pipes traces it before anything is opened up.
Hot water that runs cold
A unit that gives out mid-shower needs a repair or a replacement, and a licensed plumber can sort out which. See our hot water repair team.
Taps and toilets that keep running
A dripping tap or a cistern that never stops filling wastes water. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the usual cause.
Who looks after which pipes in Springfield?
If your home is on Council’s water and sewer, Council’s guide says it’s responsible for the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes leading to your point of connection. You look after the pipes and fittings from that point on. That includes garden taps, the hot water service and water tanks.
Sewer pipes split at the point of connection too. The owner looks after the sewer pipes inside the property, up to and including it. That takes in the boundary shaft, overflow gully and inspection opening. Council’s maintenance guide has the diagrams.
Emergency plumber Springfield: any hour, day or night
A burst pipe at midnight or a toilet that overflows on a Sunday can’t wait. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. Evening and weekend rates differ, and you get the price before we start. Our emergency plumbing callouts run all night.
- Turn the water off at the main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pipes.
- Lift valuables off the floor, then call us.
For urgent issues such as major leaks or sewer spills, Council asks you to call 02 4306 7900. Its meter page asks owners to clear at least 300 mm around and below the water meter and 1,200 mm above it.
Gas fitting and hot water in Springfield
Moving a gas heater, fitting a cooktop or adding a bayonet point is licensed gasfitting work. Our gas fitting work covers new connections, appliance swaps and pressure testing.
A storage hot water unit keeps a tank of heated water ready. An instantaneous unit heats water as it flows through. Both come in gas and electric versions.
If you smell gas, get everyone out and don’t touch switches or appliances. Call us from outside, at any hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Springfield?
Some jobs do. Central Coast Council says on-site plumbing work in the Central Coast region needs an inspection by council. At least two days before work starts, the plumber must give council a Notice of Work. NSW lists emergency work and minor works, like replacing tap ware, as cases where one isn’t needed.
A Certificate of Compliance confirms the finished work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. Council says the plumber must submit it within two days of finishing, and a copy must go to council and the owner. Ask for yours.
Plumbing in Springfield’s family homes
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Springfield among the localities of Central Coast Council, partially or wholly. Council’s guide asks you to contact it if you’re unsure who’s responsible for a water or sewer fault.

Council’s guide puts the pipes on the property from the point of connection with the property owner, and that includes a rented home. The ABS counted 14 flats or apartments. In a strata scheme, NSW says the owners corporation looks after common property and owners repair anything in their own property.
Plumber Springfield: whose pipe is it?
| Part of the system | Who looks after it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Water meter, meter tap and pipes leading to the point of connection | Central Coast Council | Keep the area around the meter clear. |
| Sewer pipes inside your property, up to and including the point of connection | The property owner | Call a licensed plumber. |
| Council’s sewer pipes leading to the point of connection | Central Coast Council | Phone Council on 02 4306 7900. |
Council’s blockage fact sheet says to lift the lid of the inspection shaft in your yard. If you’re unsure it’s clear, pour a bucket of water down it. Water that doesn’t flow away points to Council’s system. Water that does flow away points to your own plumbing, and you may need a licensed plumber.
We also take jobs in Erina, Terrigal, Tacoma and Tuggerah. To check your suburb, see where our Central Coast plumbers work.
