Plumber Tacoma
Licensed plumbers for Tacoma homes: leaks, drains, hot water and gas work, with the price agreed before we start.
Tacoma plumbing help, day or night
A tap that won’t stop dripping or a toilet that’s backed up needs a licensed plumber in Tacoma, and it doesn’t wait for office hours. Our plumber Tacoma team takes calls at any hour.
The price is agreed before work starts, and it stays fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, and we quote the price first.
What plumbing problems should Tacoma homeowners watch for?
In the 2021 Census, 206 of Tacoma’s 207 occupied homes were separate houses. Here are four jobs to know about.
Drains that run slow
Gurgling noises, odours or slow sinks and toilets can mean a sewer blockage. Central Coast Council says tree roots and unsuitable items flushed down the toilet cause them. Our drain clearing service can clear the blockage.
Leaks you can’t see
A water bill that climbs with no change in use can point to a leak somewhere. We use hidden leak tracing before anything is opened up.
Hot water that gives out
A unit that runs cold halfway through a shower needs a repair or a replacement. We handle repairs to hot water units and tell you when replacing it makes more sense.
Taps and cisterns that run on
A tap that drips or a cistern that never stops filling wastes water. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the likely cause, and both are small jobs.
Who looks after which pipes in Tacoma?
If your home is on Central Coast Council’s water supply, Council looks after the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes and inspection points up to your point of connection. You look after the rest from there, including garden taps, the hot water service and water tanks. Council’s maintenance guide has the diagram.
If your home is on Council’s sewer, owners maintain and repair all pipework from the point of connection on their property. For a blockage or overflow in your own pipework, the sewer blockage fact sheet says to contact Council in the first instance. Council will advise if a plumber is required.
Emergency plumber Tacoma: call at any hour
A pipe that bursts at midnight or sewage that backs up on a Sunday can’t wait. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. Our emergency plumbing service quotes the price before we start, and evening and weekend rates differ.
If your water meter or meter tap is leaking, Council’s guide says to contact Council immediately. For a sewer overflow from a manhole, or a blockage in Council’s sewer main, report it to Council on 02 4306 7900.
- Turn the water off at your main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pipes.
- If sewage is rising inside, stop using the toilets, sinks and shower.
- Lift valuables off the floor, then call us.
Gas fitting and hot water for Tacoma households
A storage hot water unit keeps a tank of heated water ready. An instantaneous unit heats water as it flows through. Both come in gas and electric versions, and Council’s guide lists the hot water service among the fittings owners maintain on their property.
Moving a gas heater, replacing a cooktop or adding a bayonet point is licensed work. Our licensed gas fitting covers new connections, appliance swaps and pressure testing.
If your block is on bush fire prone land and you’re building, the NSW Rural Fire Service says above-ground water and gas pipes must be metal. It also says the home needs its own water supply for firefighting, like a tank, pool or dam.
If you smell gas, get everyone outside and don’t touch switches or appliances. Call us from outside, at any hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Tacoma?
On the Central Coast, Central Coast Council inspects on-site plumbing work. The NSW Government’s local plumbing regulators list names Central Coast Council for the Central Coast area, and Council’s plumbing page sets out the steps.
At least two days before starting, the plumber must give Council a Notice of Work. A Notice of Work is a form that outlines the plumbing work and names who’s doing it. Within two days of finishing, the plumber must submit a Certificate of Compliance, with a copy to Council and the owner.
A Certificate of Compliance confirms the work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. NSW Government guidance says a Notice of Work isn’t needed for emergency work or minor works, such as replacing tap ware.
Plumbing in Tacoma’s detached homes
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Tacoma among the localities that Central Coast Council includes, wholly or in part. Council’s own pages cover water, sewer and plumbing inspections.

If your home is on Council’s water and sewer, Council’s guide puts the pipes on the property, from the point of connection, with the property owner. Tacoma had 35 rented homes in 2021, and ten private dwellings were unoccupied on Census night.
