A licensed plumber for Woy Woy homes, day or night
A toilet that won’t stop running or a drain that gurgles needs a licensed plumber in Woy Woy. Our plumber Woy Woy team takes calls at any hour.
Each job gets a price before we start, and that price holds once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, and we quote the price first.
What plumbing problems do Woy Woy homes run into?
Woy Woy has houses, townhouses and units, and the same few jobs turn up in all of them. Here are four to watch for.
Slow and blocked drains
Central Coast Council says tree roots in the pipes and unsuitable items flushed down the toilet both cause sewer blockages. A camera inspection shows whether clearing the blockage will hold.
Leaks you can’t see
A rising water bill or a damp patch on a wall points to a leak out of sight. We use hidden leak detection before anything is opened up.
Hot water that runs cold
A unit that goes cold halfway through a shower needs a repair or a replacement. We handle repairing a hot water unit and tell you when replacing it makes more sense.
Taps and toilets that keep running
A dripping tap or a cistern that never stops filling wastes water and lifts the bill. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the usual culprit.
A water meter that keeps moving with every tap off points to a leak somewhere on the property. Turn everything off and watch the dial for a few minutes to check.
Who looks after which pipes in Woy Woy?
If your home is on Central Coast Council’s water supply, Council is responsible for the water meter, the meter tap and the pipes and inspection points leading to your point of connection. You look after the pipes and fittings on your property from that point, such as garden taps, the hot water service and water tanks.
If your home is on Council’s sewer, Council’s guide says owners look after all sewerage pipes and fittings inside the property up to and including the point of connection. That includes the boundary shaft, the overflow gully and the inspection opening. Council’s guide to water and sewer repairs has a diagram.
If the problem could be Council’s, the guide says to contact Council immediately. Council lists a problem visible outside your boundary, neighbours with the same problem and a flooded boundary shaft. If you’re unsure whose it is, call Council on 02 4306 7900.
Emergency plumber Woy Woy: any hour, day or night
A pipe that bursts at midnight or a toilet that overflows on a Sunday can’t wait for opening hours. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. Evening and weekend rates differ, and you get the price before we start.
Find your main tap and your meter before you need them. Council is responsible for the water meter and meter tap, and asks owners to keep 50 centimetres clear on each side and 120 centimetres above. If the meter or meter tap itself is leaking, Council says to contact it.
- Turn the water off at the main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the pipes.
- Lift valuables off the floor, then call us.
For a sewer overflow from a manhole, or a blockage in a council sewer main, council asks you to report it straight away on 02 4306 7900.
Gas fitting and hot water for Woy Woy households
A new cooktop, a moved heater or an extra bayonet point all count as gasfitting. Only a licensed gasfitter should do that work. Our licensed gas plumbing covers new connections, appliance swaps and pressure tests.
A storage hot water unit keeps a tank of heated water ready. An instantaneous unit heats water as it flows through. Both come in gas and electric versions, and either can need a repair or a swap.
If you smell gas, leave the house and don’t touch switches or appliances. Call us from outside, whatever the hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Woy Woy?
On the Central Coast, Central Coast Council inspects on-site plumbing work. The NSW Government’s local plumbing regulators list names Central Coast Council for the Central Coast area, and Council’s plumbing page sets out the steps.
At least two days before starting, the plumber must give Council a Notice of Work. A Notice of Work is a form that outlines the plumbing work and names who’s doing it. Within two days of finishing, the plumber must submit a Certificate of Compliance, with a copy to Council and the owner.
A Certificate of Compliance confirms the work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. Ask your plumber for your copy.
Plumbing in Woy Woy’s houses, townhouses and units

Woy Woy homes in the 2021 Census
Source: ABS Census QuickStats. The ABS makes small random changes to figures for privacy.
In the 2021 Census, 2,945 of Woy Woy’s 4,754 occupied homes were separate houses, and 350 were flats or apartments. If your flat or townhouse is in a strata scheme, NSW Government’s strata repairs page says that in most cases owners repair plumbing in internal walls and fixtures, and the owners corporation repairs plumbing in boundary walls and under the floor. Check your strata plan and by-laws if you can’t tell which applies.
