Plumber Collaroy
Leaks, blocked drains, hot water and gas fitting in flats and houses, fixed by licensed local plumbers who quote the price first.
Licensed plumbers for Collaroy flats and houses, any hour
A stain on the ceiling, a toilet that won’t flush or a cold hot water unit needs a licensed plumber in Collaroy. Our plumber Collaroy team takes calls at any hour, day or night.
Flats make up more than half of Collaroy’s occupied homes, and that changes who looks after which pipe. The price is agreed before any work starts and stays fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so we quote your visit first.
Which plumbing problems come up in Collaroy flats and houses?
The 2021 Census counted 1,589 flats or apartments among Collaroy’s 2,986 occupied homes. Four jobs are common in flats and houses alike.
Leaks you can’t see
A water bill that climbs while your use stays the same points to a hidden leak. We start with tracing a hidden leak before anything is opened up.
Toilets and drains that won’t clear
A toilet that stays blocked or a floor drain that gurgles points to a blockage in the pipe. A camera look inside shows if unblocking the drain will hold or the pipe needs repair.
Hot water that runs out
A unit that goes cold halfway through a shower needs a repair or a replacement. If a repair won’t pay off, we’ll tell you.
Taps and cisterns that keep running
A tap that drips all night or a cistern that hisses after a flush is losing water. A worn washer or a stuck float valve is the likely cause.
In a block, a stain on the ceiling can start in the flat above. The NSW page below sets out who repairs what in most cases.
Who looks after which pipes in a Collaroy flat or house?
Sydney Water says owners are generally responsible for their own pipes up to where they connect to its services. Water mains and meters are usually its job. It adds that some properties share services.
In a strata building, the NSW Government strata repairs page says that in most cases the owner repairs plumbing in internal walls and fixtures such as baths, toilets, sinks and showers. The owners corporation repairs plumbing in boundary walls and under the floor. It also repairs water damage coming from common property.
Not sure which applies? Check your strata plan and by-laws. Tell your building manager, strata manager or committee about common property that needs repair.
For a house, Sydney Water owns the wastewater junction. The owner is responsible for the connection to it, and for any tree roots that enter the junction at that point.
Sydney Water also lists backflow prevention devices among the equipment owners maintain. A backflow prevention device is a valve that stops water flowing backwards into the mains. Pumps that boost water pressure in private pipes are on the same list.
Emergency plumber Collaroy: call any hour, day or night
A burst hose or an overflowing toilet won’t wait for opening hours. Call 1300 164 206 and a licensed plumber answers. See how our emergency plumbing visits work.
Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, and you get the price before we start. In a block, tell your building manager if the water comes from common property.
While you wait for us:
- Turn the water off at your main tap.
- Switch off the power at the switchboard if water has reached power points or lights.
- Put a bucket under the drip and photograph the damage for your records.
- If water comes through from the flat above, tell your strata manager.
Hot water and gas fitting for Collaroy households
A storage unit keeps a tank of hot water ready. An instantaneous unit heats water only as it flows. Both run on gas or electricity. The size of the household and the room for the unit decide which fits.
Replacing an existing hot water system counts as minor work in NSW, so no Notice of Work is needed for it. A licensed plumber still has to do the job.
Connecting a new cooktop or gas heater, or adding a bayonet point, is work for a licensed gasfitter. We do licensed gas fitting: new connections, appliance swaps and pressure tests on older lines.
If you smell gas, get everyone outside, leave switches and appliances alone and call us from outside. Treat it as an emergency at any hour.

Do I need approval for plumbing work in Collaroy?
Plumbing work has its own paperwork. Before a job that needs an inspection, the plumber submits a Notice of Work. NSW lists emergency work and minor works, such as replacing tap ware or an existing hot water system, as cases where one isn’t needed.
When the job is done, the plumber completes a Certificate of Compliance. It confirms the work complies with the plumbing regulations and the Plumbing Code of Australia. NSW says the plumber gives a copy to the person who arranged the work.
Northern Beaches Council says Collaroy-Narrabeen Beach is one of three beaches the NSW Government classes as coastal erosion hotspots. If you’re planning changes to a property in the coastal zone, Council asks you to refer to it.

Flats outnumber separate houses in Collaroy. With 888 rented homes, NSW lists a burst water service and a blocked or broken toilet as urgent repairs. The tenant tells the landlord or agent straight away.
Plumber Collaroy: who deals with the leak?
| Where the leak is | Who looks after it | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| A toilet, sink or shower fitting in your unit | The owner of the unit | Turn off your supply and call a licensed plumber. |
| A pipe in a boundary wall or under the floor | The owners corporation | Tell your strata manager or committee. |
| A private drain in a house, up to the connection | The property owner | Call a licensed plumber. The junction is Sydney Water’s. |
A private drain that still holds its shape suits relining an old drain. A collapsed one needs digging.
