Electrician Little Bay
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, smoke alarms and appliance circuits for Little Bay flats and houses, by licensed local electricians.
A licensed electrician for Little Bay flats and houses, day or night
A tripping breaker, a unit with no power or a smoke alarm that won’t stop chirping needs a licensed electrician in Little Bay. Our electrician Little Bay team takes calls at any hour.
We price every job before work starts, and the figure is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit before we begin.
What goes wrong with the wiring in Little Bay homes?
The 2021 Census counted 1,025 flats or apartments among Little Bay’s 1,857 occupied homes. Every home has a switchboard, with the breakers that protect its circuits.
A switchboard is the panel that splits incoming power into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault tracing for trips finds the faulty circuit instead of just resetting it.
Ceramic fuses, or no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits, mean a closer look before anything new goes on the board. A switchboard upgrade is quoted as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs attention
- A breaker that trips again after you reset it
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts
- A warm switchboard, or a burning smell near it
- A tingle or shock from a tap or an appliance
Electrician Little Bay: cooling, lighting and who owns the light
A reverse cycle air conditioner, an induction cooktop or a wall oven normally runs on a circuit of its own. A board with no spare way to add one needs work first.
In a strata building, who looks after a light depends on where it is. In most cases NSW says lights that hang into your property are the owner’s. Lights recessed into the ceiling and lights on common property belong to the owners corporation.
A ceiling fan needs a secure fixing and a circuit that can run it. Outdoor lights and power points need weatherproof fittings.
Emergency electrician Little Bay: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a burning smell from the board is worth a call straight away on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts. See how our urgent electrical callouts run.
- Look at the street. If the streetlights and your neighbours’ lights are off too, report the outage to your network operator, which is Ausgrid if it supplies your home.
- If only your home is dark, check the board for a tripped safety switch.
- Unplug sensitive equipment such as TVs and computers to protect it from surges.
- Stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from any fallen wire, and treat it as live.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, report faults and emergencies to it on 13 13 88, which it lists as open 24 hours. In a life-threatening situation, call 000.
Ausgrid says a zap, tingle or shock at home isn’t normal and should be reported to your electricity distributor. Ausgrid also says it can’t legally repair customer equipment past the connection point, such as service wires.
Ausgrid says a Level 2 Authorised and Accredited Service Provider can install, repair or maintain service lines. These are the lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold Level 2 accreditation, number 5559.

Will I get a certificate for electrical work in Little Bay?
Yes. NSW says the person who carries out the electrical test must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. That’s no later than seven days after the test. Since 1 July 2026, every one goes through the BCNSW eCert portal.
The portal sends the customer a copy when the electrician adds the customer’s email address. Keep it with the papers for the home.

A further 519 homes were owned with a mortgage. Ausgrid can issue a defect notice for an installation that doesn’t meet safety standards. It says a tenant who gets one should forward it to the owner or landlord.
Fire and Rescue NSW says NSW legislation requires smoke alarms on every level of a home, including owner occupied homes and rental properties. For rentals, the NSW Government sets out who acts.
Electrician Little Bay: who deals with a dead smoke alarm in a rental?
| The situation | Who acts | What NSW says |
|---|---|---|
| A smoke alarm stops working | The landlord | Repair or replace it within two business days of finding out. |
| The alarm is hard-wired | A licensed electrician | The landlord must use one to repair or replace it. |
| The landlord hasn’t fixed a hard-wired alarm in two business days | The tenant can arrange it | A licensed electrician does the work, and the tenant is entitled to reimbursement if they pay for it. |
| The home is in a strata scheme | Check the exceptions | NSW lists exceptions to these rules for strata schemes. |
We also install smoke alarms.
