Will I receive a certificate for electrical work in Maroubra?
NSW Government says electricians must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. The person who carries out the electrical test submits it as soon as practical, and no later than seven days after the test.
From 1 July 2026 it has to go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, and paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. The customer is emailed a copy when their email address is added in the portal. Keep it with your records.

For lights in a strata building, NSW Government splits the job. In most cases a light hanging into your property is yours to look after, while lights on common property and any recessed into the ceiling belong to the owners corporation.
