Licensed electricians for Bondi Beach flats, day or night
A safety switch that keeps tripping, a flat with no power or a smoke alarm that won’t settle needs a licensed electrician in Bondi Beach. Our electrician Bondi Beach team answers calls at any hour.
We price every job before work starts, and the figure is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit before we begin.
What electrical faults turn up in Bondi Beach flats?
Only 213 of Bondi Beach’s 5,174 occupied homes were separate houses in the 2021 Census. Whatever the building, each home has a switchboard. That’s the panel that splits the incoming power into circuits.
A safety switch is a device that cuts the power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault tracing for repeat trips finds the circuit behind it. We don’t just reset it.
Some boards still have ceramic fuses, or no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. A switchboard upgrade deals with both and is quoted as a fixed job.
Warning signs at your board
- A safety switch that trips again soon after a reset
- Lights that dim or flicker when an appliance starts
- A warm panel, a buzzing sound or a burning smell at the board
- A shock or tingle from a tap, switch or appliance
Lights, power and air conditioning in a strata flat
Changing the electrics inside a flat can need approval first. NSW lists these as minor renovations: changes to recessed light fittings, installing or replacing wiring, cabling or power points, and installing or replacing a reverse cycle air conditioner or a heat pump. Each needs approval from the owners corporation, strata committee or strata manager.
Ask your strata manager what your scheme needs before you book. With approval in hand, our electrician Bondi Beach team quotes a fixed price. That covers LED downlight upgrades and the circuit for a new air conditioner.
An induction cooktop or a wall oven usually needs a circuit of its own. The switchboard has to have room for it.
Emergency electrician Bondi Beach: call at any hour
No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset is worth a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The price is agreed before work starts. Here’s how our urgent electrical callouts run.
- Look at the street. If nearby buildings are dark too and Ausgrid supplies your home, call Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
- If only your flat is dark, check the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Unplug the appliance that was running when the power dropped.
- Stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from any fallen wire. Treat it as live.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, report electrical emergencies to it on 13 13 88, which it answers 24 hours a day. Ausgrid lists fallen or arcing powerlines, dangerous leaning or fallen poles and exposed underground cables. In a life-threatening situation, call triple zero (000).
Ausgrid also treats a shock or tingle from a tap or appliance as an electrical emergency. Keep away from the spot until Ausgrid and a licensed electrician have found it safe. Once supply is back, we can check the wiring on your side of the meter.
Ausgrid says a Level 2 accredited service provider (ASP/2) can install, repair or maintain service lines. Those are the lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold that accreditation (number 5559).

Do I get a certificate after electrical work in Bondi Beach?
NSW requires the person who tests the work to submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, no later than seven days after the test. Since 1 July 2026 it goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal. Paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted.
You get a copy by email when the electrician adds your email address in the portal. Keep it with your papers for the flat or house.
Ausgrid has a rule about defects too. If it sends you a defect notice, call the licensed contractor who did the work. If you can’t reach them, you need a licensed ASP/2.
Electrician Bondi Beach: renters, owners and the network
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Bondi Beach among the localities Waverley Council covers in whole or in part. Ausgrid’s page for its Bondi community battery names a site at the Francis Street road closure in Bondi Beach. If Ausgrid supplies your home, its 13 13 88 line is the number for a street outage.

In a rented home, the landlord or agent is the first call for an urgent electrical repair. NSW lists a dangerous electrical fault as urgent. A landlord must also check smoke alarms every year, and must use a licensed electrician to repair or replace a hard-wired alarm. The NSW page notes some exceptions for strata schemes.
In a strata building, NSW says most light repairs follow the table below. Your strata plan and by-laws settle the rest.
Electrician Bondi Beach: who fixes which light in a strata flat?
| What needs fixing | Who looks after it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A light that hangs into your flat | The owner | Book a licensed electrician. |
| A light recessed into the ceiling | The owners corporation | Tell your strata manager or committee. |
| A light in the hallway or other common property | The owners corporation | Tell your strata manager or committee. |
| Any of these in a rented flat | Your landlord or agent first | Report it straight away. |
