Electrician Bayview
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, smoke alarms and appliance circuits, done by licensed local electricians who answer day or night.
Licensed electricians for Bayview homes, day or night
A power point that’s gone dead, a breaker that won’t stay on or a light that flickers needs a licensed electrician in Bayview. Our electrician Bayview team takes calls at any hour.
We agree the price before work starts, and it’s fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit first.
What electrical faults turn up in Bayview homes?
The 2021 Census counted 1,544 occupied homes in Bayview. 878 are separate houses, 359 are semi-detached homes or townhouses and 301 are flats.
A switchboard is the panel that splits incoming power into circuits. When a safety switch trips, it has detected current leaking to earth. If it trips again after a reset, electrical fault finding tracks down the circuit and the cause.
Before a new cooktop, oven or air conditioner goes in, the board has to cope with the load. If it’s full or has no safety switches, we quote the board upgrade work as a fixed job first.
Signs the board needs attention
- A safety switch that trips again within minutes
- Lights that flicker when a heater or the dryer starts
- A switchboard that hums, feels warm or smells of burning
- A power point that is warm, scorched or dead
Smoke alarms, cooking and cooling circuits in Bayview
A new induction cooktop or wall oven needs its own circuit. An older board may need work first. Our appliance installation service runs from the board to the benchtop.
Interconnected smoke alarms are wired so that when one sounds, they all do. Check that a house has one on every level, and test them on a schedule.
Reverse cycle air conditioners draw a lot of power. Ask for the circuit to be checked before the unit is ordered, not after it arrives.
Emergency electrician Bayview: any hour, day or night
Sparks, a burning smell or a board that won’t reset can’t wait until morning. Call 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts. Here is how our urgent electrical callouts run.
Ausgrid says that if your neighbours have power but you don’t, the problem might be inside your home.
- Ask a neighbour whether their power is off too.
- Check the main switch and the safety switches at your board.
- Unplug whatever was running when the power failed.
- Keep well clear of any fallen line and treat it as live.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, report faults and emergencies on 13 13 88. Ausgrid lists that line as staffed 24 hours a day. It says to stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, from fallen wires. In a life-threatening situation, call triple zero.
Ausgrid says an Authorised and Accredited Service Provider Level 2 can install, repair or maintain the overhead or underground service lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold Level 2 accreditation, number 5559.

Yes. In NSW the person who tests the electrical work submits a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work to Building Commission NSW. It has to go in no later than seven days after the test.
From 1 July 2026 the certificate goes through the eCert portal. Paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. You’re emailed a copy when your email address is added. Keep it with your house records.
Electrician Bayview: houses, townhouses and the overhead lines
Bayview is one of the localities the NSW Electoral Commission lists for Northern Beaches Council. Ausgrid runs the power network across Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. Its postcode checker shows which network you’re in.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says owners look after the electrical assets beyond its connection point. That includes private poles, powerlines and pole-top fittings. When a defect needs fixing, the owner arranges a licensed electrician or a qualified tree trimming contractor.
Ausgrid also says owners keep private overhead powerlines free of vegetation. Its clearances run from 0.5 to 6 metres, depending on species, location and bushfire risk. Any trimming within three metres of its powerlines must be done by accredited workers.

The Census counted 107 rented homes. Under NSW tenancy law a dangerous electrical fault is an urgent repair, and the tenant must tell the landlord or agent straight away.
Electrician Bayview: who looks after the pole, the line and the tree?
| What you see | Who looks after it | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| A fallen line or a damaged pole | Ausgrid on 13 13 88, if it supplies your home | Stay 8 metres away and treat the line as live. |
| A private pole or the line from it to your house | The property owner | Use a licensed electrician to repair it. |
| Branches on a private overhead line | The property owner | Leave trimming near powerlines to accredited workers. |
| Only your own home has lost power | Us | Check for a tripped safety switch, then call. |
