A licensed electrician for Queenscliff units and houses, day or night
A circuit that keeps cutting out needs a licensed electrician in Queenscliff. Our electrician Queenscliff team takes calls at any hour and works in flats, townhouses and freestanding homes.
We agree the price before work starts, and it’s fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so you hear the price for your visit first.
Which electrical faults show up in Queenscliff apartments?
The 2021 Census counted 1,494 occupied homes in Queenscliff, and 676 of them are rented. Here’s what to look out for in the wiring.
A switchboard is the panel that splits the incoming power into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power when current leaks to earth. A switch that trips again after a reset needs electrical fault finding, which traces the circuit behind it.
A board with old fuses, or with no safety switch on the lighting and power circuits, needs a look before you add anything new. We quote a switchboard upgrade as a fixed job.
Warning signs at the board
- A safety switch that trips soon after you reset it
- Lights that dim when the kettle or oven starts
- A panel that feels warm or smells of burning
- Old ceramic fuses where breakers should be
A power point that feels warm, looks scorched or sparks when you plug in needs an electrician before you use it again. Switch it off at the board and leave it unused until it’s checked.
Lighting, cooling and appliance circuits for Queenscliff homes
Outdoor lights and power points need weatherproof fittings. A balcony light or a garden power point also needs a safety switch.
Swapping old halogen downlights for LED lighting upgrades cuts the load on a lighting circuit. A ceiling fan needs a firm fixing and a circuit that can carry it.
A new induction cooktop, wall oven or reverse cycle air conditioner needs its own circuit in most homes. If the board is full, it needs work first. We handle appliance circuit installation from the board to the appliance.
Emergency electrician Queenscliff: any hour, day or night
Sparks, a burning smell or a board that won’t reset can’t wait for morning. Call 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts.
Ausgrid’s outage page asks whether your neighbours have power. If you’re without power and it isn’t already on its outage map, it says to call 13 13 88 or report it online. That applies if Ausgrid supplies your home.
While you wait:
- Ask a neighbour whether their power is off too.
- Check the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Unplug the appliance that was running when it failed.
- Stay well away from any fallen wire.
Ausgrid says to stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, from fallen wires. It asks you to report faults and emergencies on 13 13 88 (24hrs), and to call triple zero in a life-threatening situation.
Ausgrid says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold Level 2 accreditation, number 5559.

Do I get a certificate after electrical work in Queenscliff?
The person who carries out the electrical test must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. NSW says it’s due no later than seven days after the test.
From 1 July 2026 it must go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, and handwritten and PDF forms are no longer accepted. The customer gets an emailed copy when their email address is added.
Electrician Queenscliff: renters, owners and shared wiring
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Queenscliff among the localities of Northern Beaches Council. If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says it maintains and repairs its electricity network in the street, and that all work from the first point of connection on the property is the customer’s electrical installation.

With flats the main type of home, the wiring splits between the building and the unit. In most cases, NSW lists lights on common property as a job for the owners corporation or strata committee. It lists lights that hang into your property, and broken appliances or whitegoods, as the owner’s job.
For a rented home, NSW lists a dangerous electrical fault as an urgent repair. The tenant must notify the landlord or agent straight away. A licensed electrician can then look at the fault.
Electrician Queenscliff: whose job is the fault?
| What you see | Who to call | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| Your neighbours are without power too | Ausgrid on 13 13 88, if it supplies your home | Check its outage map, then report it. |
| Lights on common property have failed | The owners corporation or strata committee | Tell the committee or your strata manager. |
| Only your home has lost power | Us | Check for a tripped safety switch, then call. |
