Electrician Narraweena
Switchboards, fault finding, lighting and appliance circuits, done by licensed local electricians who agree the price before work starts.
Narraweena electricians for every hour of the day
A power point that has gone dead, a safety switch that keeps tripping or a light that flickers needs a licensed electrician in Narraweena. Our electrician Narraweena team answers calls at any hour.
We agree the price before work starts, and it’s fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so you hear the price for your visit first.
What electrical faults turn up in Narraweena homes?
The switchboard is the panel where power enters the home and splits into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a fraction of a second when current leaks to earth. Both live in the board.
A safety switch that trips again after you reset it points to a fault on one circuit. Our fault finding work uses methodical fault tracing to find the circuit and the cause, rather than resetting and hoping.
A board with old ceramic fuses, or with no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits, needs attention before you add another heavy load. We quote an upgrade to the switchboard as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs a look
- A safety switch that won’t stay on after a reset
- Lights that dim when the oven or kettle starts
- A board cover that feels warm to the touch
- A hot, crackling or burning smell near a power point or the board
Fans, lights, smoke alarms and appliance circuits
A smoke alarm only helps if it works. NSW says smoke alarms in a rental are considered urgent to keep working, though separate rules cover their repair. Our smoke alarm installation covers new alarms and replacements.
A ceiling fan needs a solid fixing and a circuit that carries it. See our ceiling fan fitting page.
An induction cooktop, a wall oven or a ducted air conditioner needs its own circuit in most homes. We run appliance wiring from the board to the appliance. A wall-mounted car charger is a heavy load too, and the board needs room for it first.
Emergency electrician Narraweena: any hour, day or night
Sparks, a burning smell or a board that won’t reset can’t wait for morning. Call 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and agree the price before work starts. Here’s how our emergency electrician callouts work.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says to look out the window and check your street first. Are the streetlights out? Do your neighbours have power? Ausgrid says that if they do and you don’t, the problem might be inside your home.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says to report outages and damage on 13 13 88, which it lists as 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It says to stay at least 8 metres away from fallen powerlines or trees lying across them. In a life-threatening situation, call triple zero first.
While you wait:
- Switch off and unplug sensitive equipment, such as TVs and computers, to protect it from surges.
- Leave one light on so you know when power returns.
- Keep the fridge and freezer doors shut.
- Never connect a generator to the house switchboard or wiring.
Ausgrid says food in a fridge can spoil if the power is out for more than 4 hours, quoting the NSW Food Authority.

Will I get a compliance certificate after electrical work in Narraweena?
Yes, for work that needs one. NSW calls it a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. The person who carries out the electrical test submits it through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, no later than seven days after the test.
From 1 July 2026 the portal is the only way in: NSW says paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. When the electrician adds your email address, the system sends you a copy when the certificate is lodged. Keep it with the house papers.
Electrical work in Narraweena: poles, trees and private wires
Northern Beaches Council lists Narraweena in its Curl Curl Ward. Ausgrid describes its network as spanning Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, its rule is clear about private equipment. The owner maintains the poles and powerlines from the first point of connection on the property to the switchboard or meter. That includes pole-top fittings.
Ausgrid also says the owner keeps vegetation clear of private overhead powerlines, including trees whose trunk stands inside the boundary. Its list of defect notice causes starts with trees growing close to powerlines. It also names frayed wires, leaning poles and slack wires.
In bush fire prone areas, Ausgrid says it is required to patrol private poles and overhead powerlines every year. If it issues a defect notice, the owner arranges and pays for a qualified contractor. Ausgrid says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain service lines between a customer installation and its network. Our Level 2 electrician service is accredited under number 5559.

The owner does, if Ausgrid supplies your home. Ausgrid says owners maintain private poles and powerlines from the first point of connection to the switchboard or meter, and it can’t repair customer equipment past the connection point.
The owner clears vegetation from private overhead powerlines, according to Ausgrid. It says any tree trimming near Ausgrid powerlines must be done by workers accredited under the NSW code of practice for work near electric lines.
