Electrician Asquith
Faults, switchboards, smoke alarms and appliance circuits for Asquith units and houses, done by licensed local electricians.
Electricians for Asquith homes, around the clock
When the board trips every time the oven goes on, or half a flat loses power, you need an electrician in Asquith. Our licensed electrician Asquith team answers calls at any hour, for units, townhouses and houses.
The price is agreed before work starts. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we give you the price for your visit first.
What’s behind power trips in Asquith homes?
The 2021 Census counted 935 separate houses and 1,079 flats or apartments in Asquith. Each home has a switchboard, the panel that splits incoming power into circuits.
A safety switch cuts power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, tracing a tripping circuit finds the faulty circuit. Resetting it and hoping doesn’t.
A board with ceramic fuses, or with no safety switch on the lighting and power circuits, is due for attention. A switchboard upgrade puts a safety switch on every circuit, and we price it as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs attention
- A safety switch that trips again within minutes.
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts.
- A warm panel, a crackle or a burnt smell at the board.
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be.
Lights, cooktops and fans in Asquith units and houses
An induction cooktop or a wall oven often needs its own circuit. We handle oven and cooktop connections. We run it from the board to the benchtop. We confirm the appliance rating before we quote.
In a strata building, NSW says lights recessed into the ceiling are the owners corporation’s job. Lights that hang into your property are the owner’s, and so are broken appliances. Check before you book a downlight swap.
A ceiling fan on a low setting can push warm air back down from a high ceiling. That evens out a room in winter.

If Ausgrid supplies your home, call it on 13 13 88 (24 hours) to report faults and emergencies. Ausgrid says to stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, away from fallen wires. In a life-threatening situation, call triple zero 000. Ausgrid also says not to touch or rescue a person until the power has been cut off and a suitably qualified person has made it safe.
If you notice a dangerous pole or powerline in your street, Ausgrid asks you to call 13 13 88.
Ausgrid says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain the overhead or underground service lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold Level 2 accreditation, number 5559. Ausgrid also says all work inside a customer’s property must be done by a licensed electrical contractor.

Do I get a compliance certificate for electrical work in Asquith?
Yes, for work that needs one. The person who tests the work must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work within seven days of the test.
From 1 July 2026, NSW says every certificate goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal. Paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. You’re emailed a copy when your email address is added to the certificate.
NSW also says an electrical installation that has been de-energised for 6 months or more needs a safety inspection by a qualified electrician before remote re-energisation. The customer gives the certificate to their electricity retailer when arranging re-energisation.

In 2021, 780 Asquith homes were rented. NSW says a landlord must keep rental smoke alarms working. The tenancy agreement can’t hand that duty to the tenant. The landlord must use a licensed electrician to repair or replace a hard-wired alarm. NSW notes some exceptions for strata schemes.
Our smoke alarm installation covers new alarms and swaps.
Electrician Asquith: who looks after what in a strata unit?
| What it is | Who looks after it | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| A light that hangs into your property | The owner | Book a licensed electrician. |
| A light recessed into the ceiling | The owners corporation | Tell your strata manager. |
| Cables that are common property | The owners corporation | Report the fault to the strata manager. |
| A broken appliance | The owner | Call us to connect it. |
NSW gives cables as an example of common property, and your strata plan and by-laws show what’s common in your scheme.
Our electricians also work in Hornsby and Waitara. Our electricians in the North Shore cover the rest of the region too.
Normanhurst and Mount Colah are on the same Electoral Commission list for Hornsby Shire. Call the Normanhurst electricians or the Mount Colah electrical crew if you’re there.
