Electrician Turramurra
Switchboards, fault finding, smoke alarms and lighting, handled by licensed local electricians who quote the price first.
Licensed electricians for Turramurra homes and apartments
A board that keeps tripping or a light that won’t stay on needs an electrician in Turramurra who finds the cause. Our licensed electricians take calls at any hour and work in houses and apartments across the suburb.
We price every job before work starts, and the price holds once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so you get the price for your visit first.
What electrical faults do Turramurra homes run into?
A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a fraction of a second when current leaks to earth. A board without one on the lighting and power circuits leaves them unprotected. If yours lacks them, upgrading a switchboard is priced as a fixed job.
A safety switch that trips at random is a symptom, not the cause. Our fault tracing aims to find the circuit and the cause, rather than resetting and hoping.
Signs your board needs attention
- A safety switch that trips again straight after you reset it
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts
- A switchboard that feels warm or smells of burning
- Power points that spark or feel hot
Lighting, fans, cooking and car charging in Turramurra
Swapping old halogen downlights for LED lighting cuts the running cost. A ceiling fan on a low setting can push warm air down from a high ceiling in winter.
An induction cooktop or a wall oven usually needs its own circuit. Our cooktop and oven installation runs from the board to the benchtop, and we confirm the cooktop rating before we quote.
The ABS counts 742 Turramurra homes with three or more registered motor vehicles. An EV charger is a wall unit that tops up an electric car from your board. Aim for a board with safety switches before one goes in. Our EV charger installation starts there.
Emergency electrician Turramurra: any hour, day or night
No power, a burning smell or a board that won’t reset is worth a call straight away on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and agree the price with you before any work starts. Here is how our urgent electrical callouts run.
- Check whether the neighbours have power.
- Look at the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Unplug whatever was running when the power went.
- Treat any wire on the ground as live and keep back.
If Ausgrid is your network, it asks you to stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from fallen wires. Ausgrid lists 13 13 88 as the number for faults and emergencies, open 24 hours. Call Triple Zero (000) first if someone is hurt or in danger.
Not sure who supplies your street? Ausgrid’s network area checker finds the distributor for a postcode. Once supply is back, we can check everything on your side of the meter.

More than half of Turramurra’s occupied homes have four or more bedrooms. In a strata building, NSW says the owners corporation repairs common property, and it lists cables as an example. A lot owner repairs anything within their own property.
NSW says a landlord must check smoke alarms every year and fix a faulty one within two business days of finding out. A licensed electrician must repair or replace a hard-wired alarm. Strata schemes have some exceptions.
Electrician Turramurra: who arranges the work?
| Situation | Who is responsible | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A hard-wired smoke alarm fails in a rental | The landlord, using a licensed electrician (NSW) | Tell your landlord or agent. |
| A cable runs through strata common property | The owners corporation (NSW) | Report it to the owners corporation. |
| A private pole or powerline on your block | The property owner, if Ausgrid is your network | Book a licensed contractor. |
| Branches growing near a private overhead line | The property owner, if Ausgrid is your network | Hire an accredited contractor. |
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says owners must keep the electrical assets beyond its connection point in good working order. That covers private poles, powerlines and pole-top fittings. Ausgrid also says trimming within three metres of its powerlines must be done by accredited workers.
Ausgrid says a Level 2 provider can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and its network. Those lines run overhead or underground. We hold Level 2 accreditation, number 5559.
Our electricians also work in Warrawee, Wahroonga, Pymble and Gordon. To check your suburb, see where our North Shore electricians work.
