Licensed electricians for Normanhurst homes, any hour

A switchboard that trips whenever the oven and heater run together is a job for an electrician in Normanhurst. Our electrician Normanhurst team takes calls at any hour, every day of the year.

We agree the price before work starts, and it stays fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit first.

Which electrical faults show up in Normanhurst homes?

Aussie Home Services electrician working on a switchboard

The 2021 Census recorded 829 Normanhurst homes with four or more bedrooms and 688 with three. Every circuit in a house runs back to the switchboard.

A switchboard is the panel that splits the incoming power into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a fraction of a second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault finding for repeat trips finds the circuit at fault rather than just resetting it.

Some boards hold ceramic fuses. Others have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. We quote a switchboard replacement as a fixed job.

Warning signs at the board

  • A safety switch that trips again soon after a reset
  • Lights that dim when the kettle or heater starts
  • A warm panel, a buzz or a burnt smell at the board
  • Ceramic fuses, or no safety switch on the power circuits

Most safety switches have a test button. Press it and the switch should trip. If it doesn’t, the device isn’t protecting you, so have a licensed electrician look at it. Don’t keep resetting a switch that trips again straight away.

Heaters, lights and appliances: electrician Normanhurst jobs

Ceiling fan

A reverse cycle air conditioner or an induction cooktop needs a circuit of its own. The board can need work first. We handle cooktop and oven installation from the board to the appliance.

A home EV charger draws a steady load for hours, so the board needs room for it. Our EV charger installs are priced before work starts.

Old halogen downlights draw more power than LEDs, so swapping them with LED lighting upgrades eases the load on a lighting circuit. A new ceiling fan needs a secure fixing and a circuit that can run it.

We also fit interconnected smoke alarms. NSW says landlords must make sure smoke alarms are working.

Emergency electrician Normanhurst: any hour, day or night

No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset deserve a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts. Here is how our emergency electrician call-outs run.

If Ausgrid supplies your home, it takes faults and emergencies on 13 13 88, 24 hours a day. In a life threatening situation, call triple zero 000 first.

  • Look outside. If your neighbours have power and you don’t, the problem might be inside your home.
  • Check the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
  • Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
  • Stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from fallen wires, and report them to Ausgrid.

Ausgrid says it can’t repair customer equipment past the connection point. That includes service wires and private electricity poles. A damaged one needs a qualified electrician.

Ausgrid says a Level 2 accredited service provider can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and its network. We hold that accreditation (number 5559). Read about our Level 2 electrician work.

I had a great experience with Aussie Services, especially with Luke, who came out to fix a blocked drain at my property. Luke was extremely professional, friendly and approachable. He took the time to explain the cause of the blockage, clearly explained what needed to be done, and resolved the issue efficiently. I really appreciated his knowledge, honesty and willingness to help. It's refreshing to deal with someone who genuinely takes pride in their work and provides excellent customer service. Highly recommend Luke and Aussie Services. I'll definitely use their services again in the future!

Very happy with the plumbing work done by Luke and his team. It was a big job but it was carried out with minimal disruption to the household, and the yard. Luke was always good in explaining how the job was progressing, and importantly when we had windows of opportunity to use the sewerage system during the day. They finished the job in a timely manner, and cleaned up afterwards. Happy to recommend this company.

Called and booked for Monday, given between 8 and 12pm for a possible gas leak. Chris showed up 1 minute after he called as he was just around the corner. Chris was polite, informative and professional. Checked all my appliances, one by one and the main meter. Lucky there was no leak and it was a billing issue. Better to be safe than sorry. Also as a first time customer received a discount which was nice as I saw on line if you mention it they knock it off the total price. Zero call out fee and all work quoted up front fixed price. Would highly recommend Aussie Home Services. Its hard yo find great trades these days and Chris fits the bill! Thank you.
