Electrician Artarmon
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, lighting and appliance circuits in Artarmon units and houses, done by licensed local electricians day or night.
A licensed electrician for Artarmon flats and houses
Lights that flicker, a dead power point or a smoke alarm that chirps all night need a licensed electrician in Artarmon. Our electrician Artarmon team answers calls at any hour.
Most Artarmon homes are flats, and about half are rented, so it matters who looks after what. Every job is priced before work starts, and the price holds once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit first.
What electrical problems come up in Artarmon homes?
The 2021 Census counted 1,811 rented homes among Artarmon’s 3,629 occupied homes, and 2,483 were flats or apartments. Every home has a switchboard, which splits the incoming power into circuits and holds the breakers.
A safety switch is a device that shuts off a circuit the moment current starts leaking to earth. One that keeps tripping is telling you something is wrong on that circuit. Our fault finding for tripping circuits traces the circuit and the cause.
Ceramic fuses, or a board with no safety switch on the lights and power points, call for a closer look before anything new is added. A switchboard replacement for a flat or a house is priced before we start.
When to get the board checked
- A safety switch that trips again soon after you reset it
- Lights that dim when the oven or air conditioner starts
- A warm panel, a crackle or a burning smell at the board
- A power point that’s discoloured or hot to the touch
Electrician Artarmon: air conditioning, lights and EV chargers
A reverse cycle air conditioner or an induction cooktop runs on a circuit of its own, so the board needs room for it. We install ovens and cooktops, wired to suit your board.
Old halogen downlights run hotter and draw more power than LEDs. Swapping them cuts the load on the circuit. A ceiling fan needs a secure fixing and a circuit that can run it.
If a room runs short of power points, extra points can be added from a circuit that has the capacity. A power board plugged into another power board isn’t a fix. Balcony and outdoor lights need weatherproof fittings and a safety switch on their circuit.
A home charger in a strata building starts with the owners corporation. The NSW Government’s strata EV guide says owners must ask it for approval to connect any EV charging equipment. Once that’s settled, we handle EV charger installation.
The same guide says tenants must seek the landlord’s approval, and the landlord can then act on their behalf with the owners corporation.
Emergency electrician Artarmon: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a burning smell are reasons to ring 1300 164 206 straight away. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts.
- Check the street. If the neighbours’ lights are off too and Ausgrid supplies your home, report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
- If only your home is dark, look at the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Switch off and unplug sensitive equipment like TVs and computers to protect it from surges.
- Stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, away from any fallen wire.
Treat any fallen wire as live, and keep other people back too.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, Ausgrid’s emergency page says to report electrical faults and emergencies on 13 13 88, which it lists as open 24 hours. For a life-threatening situation it says to call 000.
Not sure whose network you’re on? Enter your postcode in Ausgrid’s network area check to find out who supplies your street.

NSW says the tester is responsible for submitting the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work to Building Commission NSW. It’s due no later than seven days after the electrical test is completed.
From 1 July 2026, every certificate must go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal. Paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. The customer is emailed a copy when their email address is added in the portal. Keep it with your house or unit papers.
Electrician Artarmon: tenants, units and the power network
Ausgrid says it can’t repair customer equipment past the connection point. Its outage guide says a damaged service wire or private pole needs a qualified electrician.
Ausgrid says an Authorised and Accredited Service Provider Level 2 can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and its network. Those lines run overhead or underground. We’re a Level 2 accredited service provider (number 5559).

With 1,811 homes rented, the smoke alarm rules matter. NSW says landlords must make sure smoke alarms work. They must repair or replace a faulty one within two business days of finding out. For a hard-wired alarm, the landlord must use a licensed electrician.
Strata buildings have an exemption when four conditions are met. The smoke alarm rules for rentals list them.
Landlords and agents can book us for installing hard-wired smoke alarms.
