Electrician Kurraba Point
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, lighting and smoke alarms for flats and homes, done by licensed local electricians who answer day or night.
Licensed electrical work for Kurraba Point flats and homes
A power point that has gone dead, or a breaker that trips each time the oven comes on, needs a licensed electrician in Kurraba Point. Our electrician Kurraba Point team takes calls at any hour.
We price each job before work starts, and the price is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ from daytime rates, so we quote your visit first.
What electrical faults turn up in Kurraba Point flats?
Of Kurraba Point’s 647 occupied homes in the 2021 Census, 515 were flats or apartments. A switchboard is the panel where the power splits into circuits.
A safety switch is a device that cuts the power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault finding for repeat trips locates the faulty circuit. Resetting it again and again doesn’t.
Some boards still carry ceramic fuses, or have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. Either one needs a closer look before a new circuit goes on. A switchboard upgrade is quoted as a fixed job.
Signs a switchboard needs a look
- A breaker that trips again within minutes of a reset
- Lights that dim when the oven or heater starts
- A warm panel, a crackle or a burnt smell at the board
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be
Smoke alarms, lights and appliances in Kurraba Point homes
NSW says landlords must replace a smoke alarm within 10 years of manufacture. A hard-wired alarm must be repaired or replaced by a licensed electrician. We supply smoke alarm installation for flats and houses.
A new wall oven or induction cooktop needs a circuit sized for its rating, and we confirm the rating before we quote. In a flat, the board has to carry that load before the appliance goes in.
Old halogen downlights draw more power than LEDs, so a swap cuts the load on the circuit. In a strata building, NSW says in most cases the owner looks after lights that hang into the home and the owners corporation looks after lights recessed into the ceiling. The table below sets it out.
Emergency electrician Kurraba Point: any hour, day or night
No power, sparks or a board that won’t reset deserves a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts. Here is how our urgent electrical callouts run.
- Check whether the neighbours’ lights are off too.
- If only your home is dark, look at the board for a tripped safety switch or main switch.
- Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
- Treat any fallen wire as live and keep well back.
In a life threatening situation, Ausgrid says to call triple zero 000. It says to stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from fallen wires. It also says to report faults and emergencies on 13 13 88, 24 hours. That applies if Ausgrid supplies your home.
Ausgrid says an Authorised and Accredited Service Provider Level 2 can install, repair or maintain the service lines between a customer installation and its network. We’re a Level 2 accredited service provider, number 5559.

Do I get a certificate for electrical work in Kurraba Point?
Yes, for electrical wiring work. NSW says the person who carries out the electrical test submits a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. That’s due as soon as practical, and no later than seven days after the test. From 1 July 2026 it goes through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal. Handwritten and PDF forms are no longer accepted.
The customer is emailed a copy when their address is added in the portal. Keep it with your records.
Electrician Kurraba Point: strata, rentals and the Ausgrid network
Ausgrid says its network covers Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. It points customers to a postcode checker to confirm their network. It also says all work from the first point of connection on a property is the customer’s installation. If you rent and get an Ausgrid defect notice, it says to forward it to the owner or landlord as soon as possible.

Half the occupied homes were rented. NSW says a landlord in a strata scheme must still keep smoke alarms working. An exception applies only when four conditions are all met. One is that the tenant has been told in writing that the owners corporation is responsible.
