Electrician Pymble
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, lighting and appliance circuits for Pymble houses and flats, by licensed local electricians.
Licensed electricians for Pymble homes, day or night
When the lights dim every time the oven and the air conditioner run together, your Pymble home needs a licensed electrician. Our electrician Pymble team is on call around the clock.
Every job is priced up front, and that figure holds once you approve it. Rates differ in the evening and on weekends, so you’ll hear the price for your visit first.
What electrical faults turn up in Pymble homes?
The 2021 Census counted 968 flats and 2,829 separate houses in Pymble. Each home has a switchboard.
A switchboard is the panel that splits power into circuits. The breakers sit on it, along with the safety switches in a newer board. A safety switch is a device that cuts power within a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, tracing the faulty circuit finds the cause instead of resetting it.
Older boards can carry ceramic fuses, or have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. Either one needs a closer look before a new circuit goes on. We quote a switchboard upgrade as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs attention
- A breaker that trips again within minutes of a reset
- Lights that flicker when the oven or heater starts
- A warm panel, a crackle or a burnt smell at the board
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be
Electrician Pymble: cooling, lighting and appliances
Air conditioners and cooktops pull a lot of power. An induction cooktop usually runs on a circuit of its own, and an older board may need work first. Our oven and cooktop fitting runs from the board right through to the appliance.
Halogen downlights run hot and draw more power than LEDs. Swap them for LED lighting upgrades to lighten the load on the circuit. A new ceiling fan needs a solid fixing, plus a circuit built to run it.
We also fit EV chargers. See our EV charger installation page for the details.
Emergency electrician Pymble: any hour, day or night
Sparks, a dead house or a board that won’t reset call for 1300 164 206. Our lines are open 24 hours a day, all week, and the price comes before any work. Here is how our emergency electrician callouts run.
- Look for a tripped safety switch or main switch at the board.
- Pull the plug on whatever heater or appliance was running.
- Glance up the street. If it is dark too and Ausgrid supplies your home, report the outage to Ausgrid.
- Stay clear of any wire on the ground, and treat it as live.
If Ausgrid supplies your home and you see fallen wires, its fallen powerlines page says to stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, away. Ausgrid lists 13 13 88 for faults and emergencies, 24 hours. In a life threatening situation, call triple zero 000.
Ausgrid says an Authorised and Accredited Service Provider Level 2 can install, repair or maintain the overhead or underground service lines between a customer installation and its network. Our Level 2 accreditation number is 5559. More on our Level 2 electrician work.

Do I get a certificate for electrical work in Pymble?
Yes. The person who tests the work submits a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. It goes to Building Commission NSW within seven days of the test. From 1 July 2026 it has to go through the BCNSW eCert portal.
Paper and PDF forms are no longer accepted. If your email address is added in the portal, you’re emailed a copy. File it with the house papers.
Council can matter for outside work. The NSW Planning Portal lists a Ku-ring-gai planning proposal to add heritage conservation areas in Pymble, Turramurra and Wahroonga, with the status Approved. If a job changes the outside of your home, ask Ku-ring-gai Council about your address.
Electrician Pymble: flats, rentals and the power network
The NSW Electoral Commission lists Pymble among the localities that the Ku-ring-gai Council area includes, partly or wholly. Ausgrid’s network area check takes your postcode and shows who supplies your street. If Ausgrid supplies your home, its fault line is 13 13 88.
Pymble homes in the 2021 Census

In 2021 Pymble had 805 rented homes and 968 flats. NSW says landlords must make sure smoke alarms, including heat alarms, are working. A flat adds a second question: does a fitting belong to the owner or the owners corporation?
Electrician Pymble: whose job is the light or alarm?
| Item | Who looks after it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| A light that hangs into your flat | The owner | NSW strata repairs guide |
| A light on common property, or one recessed into the ceiling | The owners corporation | NSW strata repairs guide |
| A smoke alarm in a rental home | The landlord | NSW smoke alarm rules, with strata exceptions |
The table shows the usual split. If you can’t tell who looks after a fitting, the strata repairs guide says to check your strata plan and by-laws.
Trees matter on houses with overhead lines. Ausgrid says owners are responsible for vegetation around their private overhead powerlines and poles. Trimming near Ausgrid powerlines must be done by accredited workers. Read its tree trimming guide first.
Our electricians also work in Gordon, Turramurra, St Ives and Killara. To check your suburb, see where our North Shore electricians work.

Electrician Pymble FAQs
What you pay depends on the job. We quote before work starts, and approval fixes the price. Quotes are free, and rates differ in the evening and on weekends.
No call-out fee applies when the booking is for the following day or later. On urgent visits the price is quoted and agreed before work starts.
Current leaking to earth makes a safety switch trip, and a faulty appliance or circuit can be the cause. We trace the circuit behind the trip rather than just resetting it.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, it does. Ausgrid lists 13 13 88, and says to stay at least 8 metres, or two car lengths, away. Call triple zero 000 if anyone is hurt. We can look at the wiring on your side afterwards.
It covers our labour if our workmanship causes a failure and the work is defective. Parts aren’t covered.
Yes, NSW requires one. The tester submits it within seven days of the test, and an emailed copy reaches you if your address is added in the portal.
