Electrician Lane Cove
Fault finding, switchboard upgrades, lighting and appliance circuits for Lane Cove flats and houses, done by licensed local electricians.
Licensed electricians for Lane Cove flats and houses, day or night
A power point that sparks, or a safety switch that won’t hold, needs a licensed electrician in Lane Cove. Our electrician Lane Cove team answers at any hour, in apartment blocks and in houses.
We price every job before work starts, and the figure is fixed once you approve it. Evening and weekend rates differ, so we quote your visit before we begin.
What electrical faults do Lane Cove homes get?
The 2021 Census counted 1,501 separate houses and 3,093 flats or apartments among Lane Cove’s 4,956 occupied homes. In either one, power reaches the rooms through a switchboard.
A switchboard is the panel that splits power into circuits. A safety switch is a device that cuts power in a split second when current leaks to earth. When one keeps tripping, fault finding for repeat trips traces the circuit behind it instead of resetting and hoping.
Some boards still carry ceramic fuses, or have no safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. A switchboard upgrade adds protection to each circuit and leaves room for new loads. We quote it as a fixed job.
Signs your board needs a look
- A safety switch that trips again within minutes of a reset
- Lights that dim when the oven or a heater starts
- A switchboard that feels warm, crackles or smells burnt
- Ceramic fuses where breakers should be
Electrician Lane Cove: fans, lights and appliance circuits
An induction cooktop or a wall oven needs a circuit of its own. In an older home the board may need work first. We fit ovens, cooktops and other appliances from the board to the appliance.
A new ceiling fan needs a secure fixing and a circuit that can run it. In a strata building, check the ceiling first. NSW says changes you’ve made to the ceiling are yours to repair. The ceiling, except painting, is the owners corporation’s, unless the problem comes from the owner’s changes.
Old halogen downlights run hot and draw more power than LEDs. Swapping them for LED light fittings cuts the load on the circuit. We also fit smoke alarms in Lane Cove homes.
Emergency electrician Lane Cove: any hour, every day
No power, sparks or a burnt smell from the board deserve a call on 1300 164 206. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and quote the price before work starts.
- Check whether the neighbours’ lights are off too.
- If only your home is dark, look for a tripped safety switch.
- Unplug the heater or appliance that was running.
- Keep well clear of any wire that is down, and treat it as live.
If Ausgrid supplies your home, call it on 13 13 88 (24 hours) for fallen or arcing powerlines, leaning poles and damaged kiosks. Ausgrid says to stay at least 8 metres, or 2 car lengths, from fallen wires.
Ausgrid also says a zap or tingle from a tap, appliance or power point isn’t normal. It treats shocks and tingles as electrical emergencies and asks you to report them on 13 13 88. In a life-threatening situation, call 000.

Will I get a certificate after electrical work in Lane Cove?
Yes, NSW requires one. Whoever tests the work must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. NSW sets the limit at seven days after the test. Since 1 July 2026 it has to go through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.
The customer gets a copy by email when the electrician adds your address in the portal. Landlords and strata owners should file it with the property records.
Electrician Lane Cove: apartments, houses and who looks after what
The NSW Electoral Commission gives Lane Cove’s postcodes as 2066 and 2065. Ausgrid says its network covers Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. Its postcode checker confirms which network serves an address.

Most occupied homes here were flats. In a strata building, NSW says owners repair anything within their property, broken appliances included. The owners corporation looks after common property, and tenants should ask their landlord. Ausgrid says property owners maintain the poles and powerlines from the first point of connection on the property to the switchboard or meter.

If Ausgrid supplies your home, it says owners are responsible for clearing vegetation near the private wires that supply their property.
